Frade Arquitectos, founded in Madrid in 2005, works internationally on both public and private sectors with a strong reputation for expertise in design on cultural, heritage and civic buildings. The practice’s ethos is rooted in a concern for environmental and social sustainability, pursuing projects based on energy efficiency and responsible use of natural resources. We have a special interest in the role of architecture as a medium for collective quality of life.

An essential part of our design process is the active involvement of our clients, lending uniqueness and authenticity to each project. Our understanding of architecture is the result of multiple variables pursuing the combination of functional demands and timeless artistic value.

With more than 300 designed exhibitions, Frade Arquitectos has developed widely recognised skills in the area of museography and exhibition staging by designing projects for major institutions such as the Centre Pompidou, the Tyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid and the Kulturforum in Berlin. The practice’s work is unified by its focus on the coherence of the final result. Our multidisciplinary team therefore covers the full scope of the creative process from urban scale interventions to showcase design and artifacts supports.

Among the practice’s most celebrated works are the National Archaeological Museum of Spain, The House of Architecture in Madrid and the new Museum of Islamic Arts in Fez, Morocco. Frade Arquitectos has received numerous awards for design excellence including the National Prize of Renovation and Heritage conservation for the Alhambra Museum.

Juan Pablo Rodríguez Frade, born in 1957, studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid. He has participated numerous lectures, masters and international exhibitions and his projects have been published in renowned magazines and publications.
